God created all things, loves all he has made and for relationship God reaches out to meet, speak and reveal himself to humanity.
Jesus is God revealing what he is like to humanity and through his Son, God intends to restore and heal humanity at every level. Encountering Jesus is our greatest need and our greatest joy.
Jesus arrival signalled a major change in history, he calls us to respond to what God is up to through trusting Jesus with our deepest needs, bowing to him as our only Lord, and joining him in God’s plan to restore and heal humanity.
One day Jesus will arrive again to resurrect and restore the whole world, just as he was raised from death after being crucified by the world. We live and serve others in hope for the day when God resurrects the dead and all that exists.
Topics
Bible: We believe the bible is inspired by God, useful for daily life and tells us what we need to know about Jesus, who is the perfect revelation of God.
Science: We think faith tells us the ‘why’, whereas science tells us the ‘how’. Both are compatible and illuminate the good plans of God in creation and salvation.
Episcopal: The word Episcopal comes from biblical Greek word ‘Epískopos’ which simply means Bishop and tells you how our church is organised. The church from early times was led by God through Bishops, Priests and Deacons in their different roles. Bishops lead the church in large geographical areas. One area is Glasgow & Galloway, served by our Bishop the Rt. Revd Kevin Pearson.
The Creed: each Sunday we recite the Nicene Creed, summaries the key beliefs we share with the early and worldwide church.
We believe in one God,
the Father, the almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one substance with the Father.
Through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven;
by the power of the Holy Spirit
he became incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and was made human.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father.
With the Father and the Son, he is worshipped and glorified.
He has spoken through the Prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come.
